Day 2: Cairo’s Ancient Wonders & Flight to Aswan
Begin your day with a breakfast at your hotel and morning cup of coffee. Your full-day exploration of Cairo’s most incredible ancient Egyptian attractions will commence with your expert Egyptologist guide.
Your first stop is the magnificent Giza Pyramids Complex, situated on the Giza Plateau. These iconic structures, dating back to the Old Kingdom of Egyptian History (around 2600 BC), remain one of Egypt’s profound mysteries, alongside the tombs in the Valley of the Kings, enigmatic Obelisks, and the ancient practice of mummification.
Marvel at The Great Pyramid of Giza (Pyramid of Khufu), this engineering marvel, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the tallest man-made structure for over 3,800 years. Your guide will provide captivating insights into why King Khufu chose Giza for his pyramid, diverging from his father’s site at Dahshour, where the Bent Pyramid and Red Pyramid stand.
Learn about the political and economic stability of Egypt during the 4th Dynasty that facilitated the construction of such a colossal monument. You’ll also have the opportunity to enter the Great Pyramid (optional, against an additional charge) for an immersive experience.
2nd Pyramid of Khafre
Discover The Pyramid of Khafre (Chephren), the second largest and tallest pyramid on the Giza Plateau, unique for still retaining a portion of its original casing stones at the apex. The Chephren pyramid features two entrances, and its burial chamber still contains the sarcophagus. To the east of the pyramid lies the Mortuary Temple of Chephren, connected by a visible causeway to its Valley Temple.
Your guide will share fascinating historical stories, including Giovanni Belzoni’s exploration of the pyramid on March 2, 1818, and Auguste Mariette’s discovery of King Khafre’s diorite statue in the Valley Temple.
Ascend to Panorama Point, the highest vantage point on the Giza Plateau. On clear days, you can even spot the distant Step Pyramid of Djoser, along with the Bent Pyramid and Red Pyramid in Dahshour. This is the ideal spot to capture a breathtaking photograph encompassing all three pyramids.
Sphinx & Mummification temple
Next, encounter the iconic Great Sphinx of Giza, a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human, believed to represent King Khafre. This colossal statue was later venerated as a god, with King Amenhotep II constructing a temple nearby, and his son Thutmose IV erecting the “Dream Stela” between its paws.
Conclude your morning exploration at the Valley Temple of Khafre, considered the best-preserved valley temple in Egypt. Your guide will elaborate on its function, which likely involved the mummification of the king or his purification with sacred oils before interment, drawing comparisons to the Mortuary Temple of Amenhotep III on Luxor’s West Bank.
Lunch
Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, offering you a chance to savor typical Egyptian food.
Later on, your cultural journey continues to the magnificent Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), also known as the Giza Museum. Actually, it has an unparalleled collection of artifacts of ancient Egypt. Here, you will be captivated by the dazzling treasures of Tutankhamun, including his famous golden mask, the imposing huge granite statue of Ramesses II, and the exquisite Khafre diorite statue.
The museum’s extensive collection spans the Middle Kingdom, New Kingdom, and Late Period. Additionally, the museum complex features a dedicated children’s museum, a comprehensive library, and an educational center, offering an enriching experience for all ages.
At the end of your extraordinary day in Cairo, your private driver will comfortably transfer you to Cairo International Airport (CAI) for your domestic flight to Aswan. Upon your arrival at Aswan Airport, our representative will be waiting to provide seamless assistance and transfer you to your Aswan hotel for check-in and overnight stay.

Day 3: Aswan attractions & Ancient Temples – Return to Cairo
Enjoy your breakfast at your hotel before begin a half-day Aswan tour, exploring the highlights of Egypt’s beautiful southern city. Your journey begins south of Aswan, near the border with Sudan, at the impressive Aswan High Dam.
The Aswan High Dam stands as a testament to modern engineering, built to address Egypt’s perennial challenge with the Nile’s annual flooding, a problem dating back to antiquity. While the initial Aswan Low Dam was constructed in 1898, it proved insufficient to fully control the powerful annual floods.
So, the High Dam project commenced in 1960 and was officially inaugurated in the spring of 1971. Its completion led to the creation of Lake Nasser, the world’s largest man-made lake. The High Dam plays a crucial role in flood control, provides consistent water for irrigation throughout the year, and at its time, supplied half of Egypt’s power demands. Furthermore, it significantly improved fishing, Nile navigation, and boosted tourism in the region.
Next, you will visit the Unfinished Obelisk in the ancient granite quarry of Aswan, representing the heaviest single-stone monument ever attempted in Egypt. On your way to the quarries, you’ll pass by the historic Fatimid cemetery, dating back to the 9th century. The Obelisk of Hatshepsut provides invaluable insights into the extraordinary techniques used by ancient Egyptians to quarry, separate, transport, and erect these monumental obelisks from the solid mountain rock.
Lunch
Enjoy a relaxing lunch at an amazing Nubian restaurant near Philae temple overlooking Aswan Low Dam.
Conclude your Aswan day tour with a visit to Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis. Located on Agilkia Island south of the Aswan Dam, you’ll enjoy a scenic 10-minute motorboat ride to the island before beginning your immersive tour.
Isis Temple is a rich source of Egyptian Mythology and insights into ancient Egyptian religion. Listen intently as your guide recounts the compelling Myth of Osiris and Seth and the devoted efforts of Isis to reassemble her husband’s fragmented body.
Discover the last recorded Hieroglyphic text in all of Egypt and observe the famous depiction of a crocodile transporting Osiris’s body on its back from Abydos to Philae.
Notably, Philae Temple was the final bastion where ancient Egyptian religion was actively practiced, even long after the spread of Christianity throughout Egypt. Marvel at the Hathor Temple and the Kiosk of Trajan from the Roman Era, distinguished by some of the most beautiful capitals in Egypt. If you wish to learn more about pregnancy and divine birth in ancient Egyptian beliefs, explore the Mammisi, adorned with decorations initiated by Ptolemy III Euergetes, continued by Ptolemy VIII, and completed by Ptolemy XII.
At the end of your enriching Aswan tours, you will be driven to Aswan Airport for your domestic flight back to Cairo. Upon arrival, our representative will provide a comfortable transfer to your Cairo hotel for overnight accommodation.
