Day 1, arrival Cairo – Cairo Citadel & Alabaster Mosque

Welcome to Egypt! Your tour begins when you are greeted by our representative at Cairo airport who will assist you through immigration and customs formalities. After you have collected your luggage, we will then take you in our deluxe vehicle, to start your half day Cairo attractions.

Saladin Citadel

The Cairo Citadel was constructed by Salah al-Din (Saladin) between 1176 and 1183 AD. Its primary function was to defend Cairo against the Crusaders and to serve as a secure center of government for his new Ayyubid regime.

For nearly 700 years, from the 13th to the 19th centuries, it remained the seat of government in Egypt and the residence of its rulers. It was strategically built on a promontory of the Mokattam Hills, making it a formidable military fortification.

The Citadel of Saladin is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that provides panoramic views of Cairo, and on a clear day, you might even spot the Pyramids of Giza in the distance!

Muhammad Ali Mosque (Alabaster Mosque)

The Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha, also known as the Alabaster Mosque, is the most prominent feature of the complex. This Ottoman-style Mosque was commissioned by Muhammad Ali Pasha between 1830 and 1848. You will see the Clock Tower, Muhammad Ali’s Tomb, ablution fountain, and ornate interior.

Later on, you will go to the hotel to check in and rest till dinner time.

Day 2: Journey Through Ancient Kingdoms

Enjoy a hearty breakfast at your hotel to fuel your day of exploration then begin your journey south of Cairo to the vast ancient burial ground of Saqqara. This site is home to the oldest stone building in the world and offers crucial insights into early Egyptian monumental architecture.

Your first stop will be the Pyramid of Unas, the last pharaoh of the Fifth Dynasty. While its exterior is largely ruined, its significance lies within, as it is the first pyramid known to have the Pyramid Texts carved into the walls of its burial chamber. These hieroglyphic inscriptions are the oldest known religious texts in the world, providing invaluable insights into ancient Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife and the astral projection.

Next, you will visit the Tomb of Princess Idut, beautifully decorated mastaba tomb. In fact, it is famous for its vibrant and detailed reliefs. These carvings depict daily life scenes, including fishing, fowling, and agricultural activities, offering a fascinating glimpse into the lives of ancient Egyptian royalty and nobility.

Conclude your tour with the Step Pyramid of Djoser, designed by the brilliant architect Imhotep for King Djoser of the 3rd Dynasty (around 27th century BC). This revolutionary structure, with its six mastaba-like layers, marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of pyramid construction.

Explore the surrounding complex, including the Heb-Sed Court and the Serdab chamber with its replica of Djoser’s statue (the original is in the Egyptian Museum). You can walk around the pyramid and appreciate its pioneering design.

Before entering the Giza complex, enjoy a traditional Egyptian lunch at a local restaurant.

Giza Pyramids

After lunch, you will explore the iconic Pyramids of Giza. This complex is home to the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops), the Pyramid of Khafre (Chephren), and the Pyramid of Menkaure (Mykerinus).

These colossal structures supposed to contain the pharaohs mummified bodies of the Fourth Dynasty (around 2580-2560 BC). You can walk around the plateau, marvel at the Queen Pyramids, Solar Boat Pits, Purification temple and the tombs of Pyramid builders.

The Great Sphinx

Conclude your Pyramids tour with the enigmatic Great Sphinx of Giza. This colossal limestone statue with the body of a lion and the head of a human (believed to represent Pharaoh Khafre) stands guard over the pyramids. At the end of the day, we will drive back to your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 3: Cairo to Luxor – Temples of the Gods

Begin your day with your breakfast at your Cairo hotel, then you will transfer to Cairo International Airport for your domestic flight to Luxor. Upon arrival at Luxor International Airport, you will immediately begin your exploration of this extraordinary city.

Your first stop will be the Karnak Temple Complex, an astonishing ancient Egyptian temple city and the largest religious building ever constructed. You’ll spend plenty of time walking with your guide exploring the Avenue of Sphinxes, courtyards, Great hypostyle halls with its 134 columns. Also, you will marvel at the sanctuaries dedicated to the Theban Triad of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. Moreover, the Sacred Lake, Hatshepsut Obelisk, Karnak Kings List, Scarab, Sekhmet Chapel, Red Chapel are among the must-see staff.

After tasty lunch at a local restaurant, you will proceed to check-in at the hotel for some rest to be ready for your next magical visit.
