Itinerary

Day 1: Luxor – Dahabiya Cruise

Begin your most exclusive and luxurious way to experience sailing between Luxor and Aswan with Dahabiya Nile Cruises. Your first stop will be Luxor’s East Bank, where you’ll visit the Karnak Temple Complex, the largest temple complex in the world. Marvel at the Red Shrine of Hatshepsut, the White Chapel of Senusret I, and the Great Hypostyle Hall with 134 columns. Later, you’ll proceed to the Dahabiya Nile Cruise to check in and enjoy your first lunch on board. Relax then join your guide if you like to walk the east bank at night or ride horse carriage to tour the city. Enjoy dinner on board and overnight in Luxor.

Day 2: Luxor West bank – Edfu

Start your day with tasty breakfast on board your Dahabiya Nile Cruise before joining your guide to explore Luxor’s West Bank attractions. You’ll start with the Colossi of Memnon, majestically guard the entrance to what was once the grand mortuary temple of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. Here, the high priest performed the ritual of the Opening of the Mouth to enable the king to regain his senses before burial.

Afterward, you’ll head to the Valley of the Kings, passing by the Nobles’ tombs and the Ramesseum Temple on the way. This is the Royal Necropolis where pharaohs of the New Kingdom sought eternal rest in elaborate, hidden tombs. Actually, you can visit three tombs in the Valley of the Kings, and you have the option to add Tutankhamun’s, Seti I’s, and Ramesses V & VI’s tombs for an additional charge if you wish.

Finally, you will finish your tour on the West Bank Luxor tour with the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. In fact, she was the most powerful and successful female pharaohs and her temple is decorated with daily life scenes of agriculture in ancient Egypt, harvest ceremonies. Return to the Dahabiya for lunch and set sail towards Esna Lock to cross to Edfu city.

Day 3: Edfu city

After crossing the Esna Lock, you’ll sail towards Edfu city while enjoying lunch on board. Shortly after lunch, you’ll reach Edfu city and embark on a short horse-drawn carriage ride to visit the second largest and best-preserved temple in Egypt. In fact, Edfu Temple is a Ptolemaic temple, was buried under sand for thousands of years and remains in perfect condition.

The temple was dedicated to Horus Behdity, husband of Hathor of Dendera. Also, the temple is famous for a design known as “Edfu WIFI” and the celebrated struggle between Horus and Seth. Moreover, the temple holds the only original Naos in Egypt and detailed scenes about its construction.

Later, you’ll return to the Dahabiya Nile Cruise for dinner and sail to Al Ramady Island for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Kom Ombo – Aswan

Enjoy your breakfast while sailing from Edfu to Kom Ombo city, passing the Gebel El Silsila quarries.  After lunch, it’s time to visit the only double temple in Egypt for Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus, the hawk.

However, the temple is known for its surgical instruments, the ancient calendar, and its sanitarium. Likewise, you can conclude your tour at the Crocodile Museum, where you’ll see mummified crocodiles and their sarcophagi. Return to the Dahabiya cruise and sail towards Aswan, passing El Sheikh Fadl Island and docking before Aswan.

Day 5: Aswan – Departure

Enjoy your last breakfast on board, then check out and begin your Aswan attractions tour with your guide. You’ll start with the Aswan High Dam, one of the world’s largest embankment dams, dating back to 1960. The Dam is a colossal rock-fill dam stretches for over 3,800 meters and stands 111 meters tall and was completed in 1970, Its primary purpose was to control the unpredictable annual flooding of the Nile River. You’ll also stop by the Soviet-Egyptian Friendship Monument before heading to Philae Temple.

Finally, you’ll visit one of the most beautiful Egyptian temples on Agilkia Island, the Temple of Isis. This was one of the largest healing centers in ancient Egypt. Here, you can explore the Mammisi, Trajan’s Chapel, Hadrian’s Gate, the Coptic Church, and the Hathor Temple.

At the end of your tour, your guide will drive you wherever you wish in Aswan.
