Day 1: El Gouna to Cairo

Our representative will meet you at the reception of your hotel in El Gouna to transfer you to Hurghada airport to take your internal flight to Cairo. Upon arrival, your guide will be waiting for you with your name on a sign in front of the arrival hall at Cairo airport.

Old Cairo

Old Cairo is a very important area that includes a lot of Roman, Christian, Jewish, and Islamic monuments. You will visit the Roman Fortress of Babylon, which dates back to the 1st century AD. Once, it was a mighty fortress that guarded the Nile’s strategic entrance to Egypt’s capital.

Your next stop will be the Grand Egyptian Museum, the world’s largest archaeological museum dedicated to ancient Egyptian civilization. In fact, the GEM is so big that you will enjoy it even before you enter the museum.

In the open court before the entrance, you will see the only Hanging Obelisk in the world for Ramesses the Great, with his stamp name at the bottom of the obelisk. It was discovered in Tanis in the Delta, and it dates back to the New Kingdom and is considered an engineering marvel of the GEM.

Once you pass the entrance, you will find the colossus of Ramesses the Great welcoming you before you move to the Merenptah victory column over the Sea People.
