The Giza Pyramids complex on the Giza Plateau date back to the Old Kingdom of Egyptian History around 2600 BC. They are one of Egypt’s biggest mysteries together with the tombs in the Valley of the Kings, Obelisks, and the mummification.

The Great Pyramid

The Great Pyramid of King Khufu in Giza is one of the old seven wonders of the ancient world and the tallest building for more than 3800 years. Listen to your guide about why Khufu changed his father’s area Dahshour and he built his Pyramid in Giza after that Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid of his father.

Learning about the political and economic stability of Egypt during the 4th Dynasty enabled them to build that huge Pyramid. Although, you have the chance to enter the Great Pyramid (against charge).

The pyramid of Khafre or of Chephren

The second largest and the second tallest in the Giza Plateau and the only Pyramid still keep part of the casing. The Chephren pyramid has two entrances and still has the sarcophagus in the burial chamber.

The Mortuary Temple of Chephren is to the east of the pyramid and the causeway connects the temple to the Valley temple still can be seen. On March 2, 1818, Giovanni Belzoni explored the Pyramid and Auguste Mariette found his diorite statute in the Valley temple.

Panorama

The highest place in the Giza plateau and on clear days you can see in the distance the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the Bent Pyramid, and the Red Pyramid in Dahshour.

The Panorama is the best place where you can have an amazing shot of all three pyramids together. You can experience also the camel-riding to enjoy the desert view and a great photo session.

The Great Sphinx

The Sphinx of Khafre is a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human. Later, it was considered a god and king Amenhotep II built him a temple next to the Sphinx and his son Thutmose IV erected the Dream Stela between his paws.

Valley Temple

The best-preserved valley temple in Egypt. may be used to mummify the king or purify him with holy oils before they put the king inside his tomb. Your guide will explain to you the function of this temple compared to the Mortuary temple of Amenhotep III on Luxor west bank.

Aswan High Dam

Egypt since antiquity had a problem with the Nile Flood and the idea was how to control the flood and generate electricity capacity to each edge of Egypt. Aswan Low Dam was built first in 1898 but was not enough to control the annual flooding. So, the High Dam was built starting 1960 and was opened in the spring of 1971.

As a result, the world’s largest man-made lake was created, Lake Nasser. The High Dam helps Egypt to control the flood, supplies water for irrigation throughout the year and provides half of Egypt’s power demands at that time. Besides, improving fishing, navigation across the Nile, and tourism.

Unfinished Obelisk

The unfinished Obelisk in the ancient granite quarry of Aswan is the heaviest single-stone monument in Egypt. On the way to the quarries, you will pass the Fatimid cemetery dates back to the 9th century.

The Obelisk of Hatshepsut gives a great idea about how this huge Obelisk was created how they separated it from the mountain and how they were supposed to transport and erect them.

Lunch

The lunch will be at a local restaurant to relax and enjoy grabbing your lunch.

Philae temple

End your Aswan day tour with Philae temple (Isis temple) on Agilika Island to the south of Aswan Dam.  Enjoy 10 minutes short ride by motorboat to the island then start your tour inside the temple.

Isis temple is a great source of Egyptian Mythology and ancient Egyptian religion. Listen to the Myth of Osiris and Seth and what the loyal wife Isis did to collect her husband’s pieces. Also, watch the last Hieroglyphic text in the whole of Egypt and the famous Crocodile transporting Osiris’s body on the back from Abydos to Philae.

Although, the Philae temple was the last place where ancient Egyptian religion was practiced even after the spreading of Christianity. Marvel Hathor temple and Kiosk of Trajan from the Roman Era with the most beautiful capitals in Egypt.

If you want to know more about pregnancy and divine birth, visit the Mammisi and watch the decorations started with Ptolemy III Euergetes, Ptolemy VIII, and continued by Ptolemy XII.
